Professional Interpreter's Accreditation Exam ApplicationRequirements

Documents for education, volunteer and work experience as well as current MPHIA
membership. The completed exam application, supporting
documents and fee's must be received one week prior to exam date. If
the dates for exams are difficult for you please call Dave Verhulst and see if
there are alternative dates. The written exam is approximately three hours long.
Oral exams are approximately 15 minutes/ participant. You must meet the
following conditions to register for the Professional Interpreter's Exam:
- There is a fee to take the
test (see below for payment methods).
- Have a combination of hours of experience and education that adds
up to a minimum of 120 points.
- Provide proper documentation.
- Must
submit an outline of oral presentation for approval at least 7 days prior
to exam date. Oral

- If you have between 80 - 120 points and have taken
the MPHIA course you may take the written exam and apply to take the oral when
you have sufficient work experience points.
- If you do not have 80 points
you will be advised to take the MPHIA Standard/Apprentice course. When you have
sufficient work experience points you may apply take the Professional Interpreter
Accreditation.
- Have a current MPHIA membership.
